Master of the game by Sidney
Sheldon is a page turner. This novel embodies Sidney Sheldon’s brilliance in
storytelling. Although the story is neither suspense nor mystery, the storyline
keeps the reader enchanted with little twists and turns.
Master of the game is the story of
a family that founded a successful conglomerate called Kruger and Brent. The novel
begins off describing how a young Jamie McGregor made a fortune for himself
against tremendous odds in colonial South Africa and the eventual establishment
of the conglomerate. True to the title “Master of the Game”, a large chunk of
the story is about the ruthlessness, intelligence and cunningness of the central
character, Kate Blackwell, who manipulates people and situations to get what
she wants, which is the limitless growth of Kruger and Brent and her family’s
absolute control over it. But destiny has something else in store for the lady
who has to deal with a deranged son and his twin daughters Eve, an evil schemer,
and Alexandra, a docile lady with no interest at all in the family business. The
story details what it takes to be the “Master of the Game”.
